at a hitherto uninspired Italian restaurant in SoHo

One spring day in 1993, I was walking in SoHo (NYC) in search of a great coffee. I saw this restaurant. I ordered an espresso. I had to wait 20 mins. I said to myself, "Hmm, maybe they have some problems." Then I said to the owner, "If you need some help, I can help you."

The next day Massimo started to work the 2P-midnight shift at the restaurant and met Lara to begin their love story. Massimo Bottura is now an Italian restaurateur and the chef patron of Osteria Francescana, a three-Michelin-star restaurant based in Modena, Italy which has been listed in the top 5 at The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards since 2010 and received top ratings from ESPRESSO, Gambero Rosso and the Touring Club guides.
